Last week, I covered my ten new favorite handmade wedding dress designs for 2013. Last year I shared my picks for ten amazing handmade wedding dresses that are great for the summer months. I also rounded up my top picks for vintage dresses last year, and now that they’ve all long ago sold, I’d like to follow up with this year’s vintage finds! As wedding season approaches, we’re noticing that the trend of uber DIY weddings hasn’t faded. Crafty, handmade loving brides-to-be are clamoring for unique wedding invites, floral alternatives and vintage and down-home touches like mismatched dinner plates and ceremony chairs. As I’ve noted before, if you’re super into a specific dress from a shop like David’s Bridal or even a designer option, consider checking out used online shops like Pre-Owned Wedding Dresses or Once Wed to see if you can “recycle” a dress. Below are my ten favorite picks for online vintage finds. Consider scouring your local Goodwill for scores of your own. Beautiful vintage white and yellow 1950s floor length gown. Metal zip on the side. It has a small bit of rust right at the top, but it still looks nice. You might want to sew on a hook-eye if needed. Yellow floral lace shoulders, cross in the front. Long full skirt. Double layer of tulle, and a solid skirt underneath. (Zwzzy, $168) This dress has been specially modified by Birdy James – he eliminated the sleeves of this wedding dress, originally from the late 60s early 70s, to give it that extra modern touch. It is completely on trend now, and not only does it feel beyond special while slipping it on, but it photographs very well – every bride’s dream. Completely original and unique. (Birdy James, $1200) Read more: http://www.care2.com/greenliving/10-vintage-spring-and-summer-wedding-dresses.html#ixzz2RPEosF4h
