Archaeology field tech job in California Available

Hi shovelbums:

I have a position opening out of the San Bernardino office for a field tech in Southern and Eastern California. We have at least three months of work planned at various places including Newport Beach, 1000 Palms, Menifee and Owens Lake among others.

Work begins immediately and flexibility is a must. Must have experience on survey and monitoring for prehistoric/historic-era cultural resources in California. Starting pay is based on experience and after a three month trial period, the candidate may be considered for permanent employment.

STAFF ARCHAEOLOGIST POSITION OPENING

Sagebrush Consultants, L.L.C., a Utah based cultural resources firm in
business 28 years, seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Staff
Archaeologist. Responsibilities for this position will include the
preparation of proposals and research designs, the supervision of field
crews in a variety of environments, the recording of prehistoric and
historic sites, the excavation of prehistoric and historic sites, the
analysis of survey and/or excavation data, and the preparation of technical
reports and NEPA documents.

Most projects are located in Utah, but others may be located in Idaho,
Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and other Western states.
The position will require frequent contact with a variety of clients and
governmental agencies. The successful candidate will possess the following
qualifications:

> Willing to learn and take direction

> Completion of a Master's Degree in Anthropology with an emphasis in
Archaeology

> At least two to three years of archaeological field experience at a
supervisory level;

experience in Utah or adjacent states mandatory; persons applying should
be qualified to

be added to agency permits in these areas.

> Willing to carry out both historic and prehistoric archaeological work

> Good writing and verbal skills and analytical abilities

> Demonstrated ability to work individually as well as part of a team

> Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

The benefit package includes holidays, health insurance, a retirement plan
and paid personal leave time. This position also includes, for the
successful candidate, working with veteran archaeologists, historians,
architectural historians and managers and of being exposed to ideas,
challenges and opportunities not often found in larger, corporately
structured firms.

This is a full-time hourly position, not an individual project assignment.
The successful applicant must be willing to relocate to the Ogden area and
will be expected to travel for project assignments.
